Starting on December 1st, we will have our 4th annual Journeyman League. This is an extended format League that will take place over a 3-6 month period, due to our widespread locations and no local game store availability. We will gather for our first meeting on the 5th of December, and schedule out the next meeting at that gathering. The meeting place will be on MCAS Iwakuni, at approx. 1000. We've yet to determine the meeting place, but hopefully it will be the building 658 Community room.
What is a Journeyman League (JL)?
Well, it's a way for new players to begin in the game of Warmachine and Hordes at an easy pace, allowing for the basics of the game to be learned at smaller points levels, and with each round, increasing the points and options allowed to play the game. This format also allows for veteran players to begin a new faction, or Warcaster/Warlock and learn more about the game and different play styles.
How does it work?
Each round, a JL player uses their chosen force to play games at increasing points values given strict guidelines to follow. These can be read about in the JL rules pack provided on the PP website. Make sure that you read through the rules, and understand what is required of you.
What do you do?
Each round you expand your force of models for the given faction that you have chosen to play for the league. It will go a little something like this:
Round 1: Battle box/War Pack only
Round 2: 15 points (Battlegroup box set required)
Round 3: 25 points (Battlegroup box set required)
Round 4: 25 points (Battlegroup box set required, 'caster swap allowed)
Round 5: 35 points (Battlegroup box set required, 'caster swap allowed)
Round 6: 35 points (No restrictions)
Now within that time, it is recommended, although not required, that you paint the models you will be using for JL. You can also paint other models for the same faction that you will be using as well. Furthermore, models in the Mercenaries or Minions sub-factions that will work for your faction will count towards your grand total as well.
Why are you doing this?
Physical rewards include patches for the JL. These patches will allow you to distinguish yourself as someone who has taken part in a Journeyman League and worked towards completing a new faction, or expanding upon a current faction that you have already.
How do you get the patches?
It's easy. Taking part in the JL earns you an automatic centerpiece patch, which can be expanded upon from there. There are two ways to earn your stripes. You can play games and/or paint models.
Winning a game: 3 pt
Lose or draw a game: 2 pt
Painting points:
Warcasters, warlocks, warbeasts, warjacks, and solos: 3 pt for large base, 2 pts for medium base, 1 pt for small base
Battle Engines/Huge Based warlocks: 5 pt
Colossals and Gargantuans: 7 pt
Units of 2 models: 2 pt
units of 3-6 models: 3 pt
units of 7 or more models: 4 pt
units of only meduim based models: 1 additional pt
units of only large based models: 2 additional pt
For every 10 points you earn, you gain one more stripe under your centerpiece patch (up to three). Please see the JL rules for more detailed information.

As I said before, our first meeting will be on December fifth. Due to this, we will officially start the JL on the first of December. Feel free to begin painting and playing games at that time. Take or post up pictures of your unpainted or base coated model before you paint it. Posting here in this thread will do for proof or showing me the picture of the primed/built models when unveiling them at a meeting will do as well. Any models which have not been photographed as unpainted before presented as painted for the JL will not count as being painted for the JL. Please keep this in mind when starting new models.
Make sure you download and print out the JL score sheet as well. You will need it to keep track of your progress through the JL.
If you have any questions, please post them here and I will answer them. Good Luck!
