Greetings everyone,
I`ve already attended one gaming event, so perhaps this message is a little late. I`m Dan and I`m an ancient wargamer (played my first game of Blood Bowl in 1993) who never plans to give up the hobby. I take pride in playing (almost) everything fully painted and enjoy my wargames win or lose. I`d much rather be complimented on how my army looks that on any tactics I employ. I try to win, but (generally) avoid powergaming or WAAC methods to get the victory. I hope I can help younger/newer gamers get into the hobby to stay and get more out of their wargaming experience. I live far away from the base in Iwakuni. I live up in a place called Fukuyama. I speak fluent Japanese and I`m more than happy to help anyone (translate/communicate) who wants to come out and wargame in Saijo or Fukuyama.
I have three 8000+ point 40K armies (fully-painted), two 6000+ Warhammer Fantasy armies (f.p.), Man`OWar Fleet (f.p.), four Bloodbowl teams (f.p. - still my favorite GW game), a Mordheim warband (f.p.), two Necromunda gangs (1f.p., 1 not painted yet), and I still have a few M:TG decks around somewhere. Of these, I`d love to play Blood Bowl again or Warhammer Fantasy...and I could probably be talked into a game of 40K
But, in the last few years I`ve switched over to mainly Privateer Press games. I have about two-thirds of everything in the Cygnar range (fully-painted), and about three quarters of the Trollblood range (93.5% painted). I just started Hordes. I played my first two games last weekend in Iwakuni, in fact. From now I`ll try to finish painting up my Trollbloods and get a lot of games in with them. I`m also an avid Monsterpocalypse fan. This game is (unsurprisingly) popular here in Japan. The minis are pre-painted, so it`s easy to get started. It`s an interesting hybrid of wargame and boardgame that is deceptively tactical - you really gotta think to win in Monpoc! I`m totally down for games of WarmaHordes and/or Monpoc when I`m in Iwakuni.
I`m also an old friend of Gannon (that`s how I came to learn about this board). So, that`s it. It was nice meeting everyone last weekend. I hope to see you guys again soon.
