So last week at TempleCon PP released info about the newest expansion for Warmachine: Colossals!
This introduces a whole new unit type to the game funnily enough called a Colossal. Anyone who's read into the history of the Iron Kingdoms knows that Colossals were pre-warjack machines which had the capacity to lay seige to whole cities. With the escalation of the war between the Iron Kingdoms, the Colossal ban has been lifted and we'll see a new Colossal for each Faction including Mercenaries. Basically a Colossal is a HUGE Warjack and will function in a similiar fashion, being allocated focus, using Power Attacks and so on. So far we've seen pictures and video of the Khador and Cygnar versions, with Concept art and artwork being released for the other 4 factions within the Warmachine game. No new races or factions will be released this year. The first Colossals will hit the tables with the new book in July.
The addition of a tablet/phone app called War Room will hit your digital stores in March. This app will allow you to perform the functions of iBodger, allowing you to make army lists, check stats, rules, and even track damage. Initial download is free and will give you the basic faction battlebox stat cards and ability to purchase faction specific cards within the program for $6.95 per deck. This is a one time cost and any future releases for the faction purchased will be updated for free. It will also include campaign specific characters for those running campaigns. For anyone who has used iBodger, this will be the replacement for that app.
News of the Iron Kingdoms RPG also hit during Templecon. The game is based off of a 2D6 generated combat system and is said to work rather well. Character development and generation is said to take about an hour to roll stats and finish up your classes. The class system varies, but is said to be all encompassing and you will get perks for the class you decide to go with. Four books will be released initially; Core Rulebook/GM Guide, Civilized Kingdoms book, Wilds books (think Warlocks), and Other (Cryx, Rhul, Skornes, etc.)
Overall quite a bit of information was released during the Con. I'm really looking forward to seeing more from PP on the Colossals release and IK RPG!
