Gentlemen, I'd like to report that after the other night's session, I greentext storied us on /tg/ in a boardgame thread. Everyone got a good hearty laugh out of it:
>introducing 3 friends to the game
>1st Game one flubs and thinks he's a cylon because he only glanced at his card
>real cylon plays subterfuge
>crisis card comes up, those two and the destiny deck all pay in negatives to the card
>hmmmmm.jpg
>I end up brigging both of them just to cover ourselves...
>We let the real cylon out.
>Humans lose, fake cylon reveals himself..
>Stimpyyouidiot!.gif
>Still had fun
>played again
>Ousted Cylon early
>ZOMG FLEET DEPLOYMENT CARDS EVERYWHERE!
>We jump and get a break
>Keep pushing on, resources dwindling, centurions on board, fleet makes a comeback
>Humans devise a plan to use strategic planning and executive order to jump (at 8 distance) and Helo's ability to give us a re-roll, we can win this.
>Player before Helo draws a crisis card skill check that can screw us either way and we're out of skill cards and are saving the exec order and strategery for our finale.
>Card has a 4 or better roll.
>We have another strategery.
>We can do this.
>1
>FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU!!!
But we all still had a lot of fun and they are addicted to it.
I've had the Pegasus expansion and I'm thinking of doing the New Caprica endgame next... Is it worth the time/effort? /endstories
Anyways I have the vanilla game as well as its 2nd expansion, and I'm pretty sure I bought the final expansion but I can't remember for the life of me and chances are if I did its buried somewhere in the boxes of things from when I moved barracks (the new one doesn't have space for everything I own... *sigh*)
Anyways a quick rundown is that its a fun FFG game and its one of those games where the journey to the end is more important than the ending. Because in brutal honesty... The Human players are going to lose.... a lot. Unless the Cylon players are just plain horrid at their job both covertly and later when they reveal.
The expansions add new dynamics to the game here and there (in FFG fashion) and add new end games as well.
Best part is you don't have to be a fan of the show to like the playstyle of the game. I think I was the only fan of the show in the group, and they still loved it.
Its like Diplomacy meets Munchkin and its all in spaaaaaaaaace!
