This is to get a snapshot of interest for a 6-8 player game of Twilight Imperium 3rd Ed.
For those who don't know it, it is one of Fantasy Flight Games' more intricate games in that it involves: space combat, ground combat, trade, diplomacy, research trees, and no small amount of galactic conquest.
Each player randomly draws races, picks one, and then the game is on. Alliances are made informally, out of game, and betrayals are almost as common. Though this game can appear daunting, after one or two rounds, it becomes second nature. Complex in scope, but simple in mechanics.
Caveat: the game is long. In my experience, it seems to be about 1 hour, per player, and about an half-hour for instruction and setup. 6 players would mean about 6.5 hours. For die-hard gamers, this is not that daunting, but for the casual Settlers and Apples to Apples people, it might ask a bit much. Showing up for a game when you only have a few hours to spare is obnoxious, so plan accordingly. At 3 hours, you might want to break for chow.
Still here? Great! This is one of the best of the grand-scale strategy games ever made. Prior experience is not necessary, but similarities exist to anything with cards or dice. Please post your questions/comments here if interested! Thank you.
