First off this is one of the best Tournaments that I've ever run. I'd really like to thank any of the guys that worked on the Adepticon scenarios and for their work on the datasheet that they provided for scoring. It made my life so easy while running/scoring the Tournament.
1-Great work to all the participants on getting your armies ready and fieldable for the tournament. For the most part, the final results were very close.
2-The extra effort that was put into a few of the teams was outstanding. This is what I like to see and really gave the tournament a sense of accomplishment. Look back to a year ago and our tournament armies, you'll see a difference. Great work guys.
3-A few issues did arise. People arriving late and unprepared. People, you had 1.5 months to prepare for this tournament, lists should have been hammered out and details taken care of within the first couple of weeks of preparation. Showing up to a tournament with no army and no army list is not acceptable. Late, well hey things happen, but a phone call to your team mate or TO would be acceptable. Let's work on these things gentlemen, anything less and it's a lack of respect for your team mates, opponents and to the club.
4-Rules and Tournament issues. If there is ever a need to call a judge or the TO over, please don't hesitate to do so. There were a few heated moments where in any other gaming group things could have gotten out of hand. Luckily, our club members are a great group of guys and we know that in the end it's just a game. That being said, I made it explicitly clear that perks that applied to one team members army did not apply to the other team member. Period point blank. Next year we'll cover this in more detail so that it will not happen again.
5-Competitiveness-We saw some really great armylists out there. I only saw a total of two armies that would have ever joined up in "40k real life". That was Brian/Steve's Dual SM force and Immel/Chagear's Tau/BA's. Although Tim/Micah's background comic did make a thoroughly convincing story. Let's work on theme a bit more next year gents.
So for next year, what can we do differently? I know one thing for sure. Soft scoring will be a much more influential in the end. Questions, comments, complaint, and critiquing is very much welcome. Post them up here.
