It wouldn't, it will never happen. ultramarines are the lynchpin in the Imperiums defense against the aberration of Chaos.

Ultramarines have the PUREST geneseed of any Chapter (number two being the Imperial Fists/Crimson Fists/Black Templar)

Didn't help the IF when the Iron Warriors raided the Geneseed Storage facility in Storm of Iron, one of the greatest books ever written. If you haven't read it yet do so, you can download it from Black Library. Geneseed can be corrupted, unfortunately.
