The official update is out for this tournament season. It will be used in the Tournament! Little recap for Marine players: Till yesterday, only Wolves, Bloods, and Vanilla dex's had all the 3+ Storm Shield, new Power of the Machine spirit, new Narthecium, etc. That is until GW lovingly updates Dark Angels and Black Templar codices to 5.0 standard. If you have questions, please refer to the Official Update for said army. Enjoy your day.

I'm doing Deathwing after I finish my Daemons! Thank you GW for the smartest move I've seen you make in 2 years. The one prior to that was re-releasing Space Hulk.
On another note, you all do realize the reason GW did this right? Basically now they don't have to worry about updating the DA/BT codices for another 4 years. I'd venture to guess about the same time a new Edition will be released.

With my vows, I am fine with that. Nothing like 10 Thunderhammer terminators who reroll to hit rolls.

While I do not like the Idea of not have those chapters updated for this addition, At least the equipment is even across the board.

It makes more sense and gives each codex a viable chance to succeed in this edition. These armies will sell more now that they've got better rules, I can clearly see DA and BT players using these armies not only for FAAC, but WAAC armies as well now. One thing is clear, BT's now do Razor spam better than BA's.
It was an easy business decision for GW. Release an update rather than dedicate a full team of writers, sculptors and playtesters to a doing a new codex. There are still differences between the codices and each still has their own "rules" Vows and Wing armies, so the arguement of no flavor doesn't work. I'm a firm believer that this is a good thing both for the fans and the Company.

What I meant was that they will not get a codex. If this was going to happen fro this edition then it should be done at he very beginning (when the SM codex comes out the base change to the equipment and price changes need to be retroactive to all SM chapters). This move is smart, but condemns the idea of a new codex for these armies in 5th.

I am still going to build one. I like the custom job idea I had and don't want to disappoint those who see me as a customizer.

Me either. Chagear and I drew up the plans for that thing months ago but never had the bits we needed to build it, that changed recently so I expect Chagear is going to build it soon, I can't wait to see it. Btw, Chagear, we need to do a modeling night some time this week. I will bring my DP.
