Iwakuni Community Gaming Club is based aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan
We wanted to have a big battle, so we gathered all the Xenos and Heretic models that we could, which came to 7700ish.
Chaos-
Their version of 'Masters of the Chapter' including Abaddon, 4 Chaos Terminator Lords and 5 Chaos Terminators (1200 points)
Brass Scorpion
2 Predators
1 Land Raider
Many Chaos marines
Tau- Some Crisis suits and gun drones
So we matched that with our Armies-
I fielded a Warlord Titan and a LR Crusader with a Squad of Templars led by the Emperor's Champion
The Blood Angels fielded a Thunderhawk (mine) filled with 12 Blood Angel Assault Marines led by the Azeroth the Grim, and a Drop Pod/Dreadnought, and a Techmarine with a Dev squad.
The IG fielded a Baneblade, Leman Russ, 2 Chimeras, and a retarded amount of Veteran Soldier infantry.
Quick Synopsis -
3 Super heavies to one. The forces of evil played 'Ignore the Superheavies' and fielded numerous infantry and not enough Heavy Support IMO. They were landing on objectives, only to get blasted away the following turn. The Titan was severely accurate, and with 3 D weapons is slightly ridiculous, even though I was playing him. In the end, the superheavies were unscathed, and we had most of our infantry intact.
The battlefield (Titan on Left)
Baneblade providing right security.
Chaos Battle Line
Notice the Crusader and the Chimeras pushing around the right flank of the Battle Line
Its really big. I can see Everything! Perhaps, in retrospect, there was by far not enough terrain on the map.
However, the battle line didnt surge forward after the Titan like I had expected. It in fact, remained still. I think this was a Tactical Fail for the opponent.
Chaos hiding their troops from LOS of the Titan
Chaos Terminators Deep Strike!
The Thunderhawk Enters play, while the Templars scream to the right flank of Chaos.
Chaos Battle Line
Three Lascannon Batteries holding it down!
Emperors Champion survives a Barrage called by Abaddon, Himself!
Thunderhawk reengages
Terminator Against Guard - Colonel Iron Hand kicks his arse and NO Guard are killed.
Blood Angel Heavy Weapons Platform Guarded by a Techmarine (3+ ruins, baby!)
Chaos widdling down
Stormtroopers Deep Strike far backfield on a unit of Chaos Warriors, slaying them!
Astorath the Grim deploys on the backfield, behind enemy lines.
Veteran Guardsman eat up some raptors.
Abaddon and a Chaos Sorcerer head for Guardsman.
Warlord closing for the kill.
Guardsman in Chimera on Objective, Astorath heading to Objective
Lone stormtrooper Sgt on Objective
Dreadnought on Objective
In the end, every Chaos model was dead, with about 75% or more of our force still alive.
Even though one could see the setup of this match one sided, tactically my team was superior, allowing a better win. Overall the battle was enjoyable and we did take our lumps a few times from Chaos.
Improving the game - Much More Terrain, and more heavy support/superheavies for Chaos. Bring Eldar? Fire Dragons =).
